Today Jodie & I decided to do some serious work, which involved some fashionable costumes and poetic dance moves.
These shots already had the main room lights turned on, to which Jodie and I used the studio lights on top of this to experiment with them.
We tested:
- 2 side light positioned one to the left of us and one to the right of us
- The main light which is a singular lamp positioned directly in front of us
- The right light just on its own
- The left light on its own
- All three lights at the same time (left, right & directly in front)
- No lights (the standard lights to the room)
In conclusion:
We realised that each light working individually gave off some sort of shadow, this would be effective when creating a 'reflective' piece where the tone of the video is intended to be quite deep or even depressive.
Using all three lamps at the same time created a 'full' effect emphasising the light on the both of us and out surroundings, making the video appear 'professionally finished'
When we used the two side lights in combination with one another, it created a 'spotlight' effect and deemed effective when the characters are located in the centre of the two, usually directly down the middle of the camera framing. Despite the fact that this is effective, when we moved about, shadows were created as a result.
Technology/Software used:
To shoot the video a standard camera was used, we edited the footage on an Apple Mac using the software iMovie.
